What to buy with the indoor trainer
The trainer itself is only half of the home setup. A fan, mat, correct cassette, and stable connection make the comfort.
Minimum set
Cassette for your transmission, axle adapters, front wheel stand, mat under the trainer, and a good fan. Without a fan, a power workout quickly turns into overheating.
For heart rate training
A chest heart rate monitor is more useful than optical watches on the hand: on the indoor trainer, hands are often tense, and sweat and vibration worsen accuracy. If the indoor trainer supports HRM bridge, it can transmit heart rate to the app along with power.
For an apartment
The mat dampens vibrations and saves the floor, but the most significant source of noise is often not the trainer but the chain and transmission. A clean chain, fresh rollers, and a smooth cassette make more difference than a thick carpet.
